Trunk or Treat

DSC00310

For those of you who may not be familiar with trunk or treat, it’s an alternative to door-to-door trick or treating. This was a church activity this past Saturday night. We enjoyed barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers and then as it got darker, we moved to our cars, opened our trunks and let the children go at it.

This year we went with a Minecraft theme (last year was a cemetery theme). Marcus and I created each piece ourselves: 2 creepers, 8 pumpkins, 1 spider and web. It took up most of our free time last week and was a fun activity to tackle together. Marcus loves Minecraft and many of the children who came to our car for treats were Minecraft fans as well.

  1. Wonderful job on the decorating! We have several trunk & treats out here as the houses are just too far apart to make trick or treating even possible. Most of the kids just go into the village to trick or treat. My out-of-state grand kids also do the trunk or treat. They’re great!

    1. In many of my church’s congregations, Trunk or Treats are popular just as a church family activity. For us it’s been nice as we currently live in an apartment where we don’t get a single trick or treater. Or in more rural areas, where homes are spread out, it’s an easier and safer way to trick or treat.

  2. I never decorate . . . I just don’t have the heart for it. 🙂 We just open up the back of the van and pass out candy. But I have so much admiration for those who do find the energy to decorate that way!
